System Updates

Since I last posted (not counting the blurb from a couple of hours ago)…

Riley is 18 months old. Who let that happen? She likes to give kisses and hugs, which she’d best grow out of for everyone except daddy until she’s 40.

Declan won a soccer championship this weekend, somehow going the entire season without intentionally kicking the ball until the big game. So he’s got a big shiny trophy for soccer, which is hilarious for anyone who has seen me play the beautiful game. He’s also growing by leaps and bounds, physically and mentally and spiritually. He’s started referring to church as “his church,” which makes my heart happy.

Abby’s rocking things with her optometry practice and with Rodan + Fields, working exceptionally hard at two jobs to help provide for our family. We’re coming up on 9 years of marriage, which I think qualifies her for an endurance award.

I went back to school, although I’m not 100% sure what for yet. In theory I’m leveling up my MACM into an MDiv., and then that gives me access to…other things. Still not clear what God thinks those other things are yet, but its been challenging and fun to take 6 hours of grad school on top of everything else that comes with Logos and family and life.

So that’s where we are. I’ll try to share some of the grad school stuff and some of Dex and Riles and of course all the amazing things my beautiful wife is doing. But for now…here’s my heart.

Negative Ghost Rider

Its been over a year since I’ve graced these less-than-hallowed halls, and there’s a significant reason for that–every time I feel compelled to write something down, its because I’m angry or upset or frustrated…just negative stuff. No one wants to read that stuff, and honestly this shouldn’t be a place for venting. It started out that way, but thats because no one knew I started a blog. Then it turned into a way to release some of the spiritual pressure building up from doing youth ministry. Then it was a weight-loss blog, and anyone who’s seen me recently knows how well that worked out. Now its…now I don’t know what it is. But I think it needs to come back, and hopefully with some positivity. If you have any suggestions or requests for what you’d like me to write about, let me know.

As it is, I think I’ll be back in a few hours with an update on life. But for now, I have to go to a staff meeting because God felt it necessary to put me in charge of a high school. He’s a prankster…
