I learned something today.
Actually, I learned two things. The first is that those new Reese’s Peanut Butter Minis are delicious, and the fact you don’t have to fight to take the foil wrapper off (they come unwrapped) makes it all the more wonderful. The second is that, especially in a moderately warm apartment, when you place those Reese’s Minis in the bowl of a stand mixer while making cookies, the paddle will beat the ever-loving crap out of them. The subsequent cookies were just as delicious as the actual candy, and it was kind of cool because instead of there being chunks of peanut butter cup throughout the cookies like I expected, there were ribbons of peanut butter and melted chocolate throughout instead. Consider it one tasty lesson learned.
Breakfast–Bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats with fruit in the middle. Man those are great…I wish they weren’t so expensive. The boxes are smaller than normal Mini Wheats, but they’re just so freaking awesome.
Lunch–Leftover quinoa and bulgur along with sauteed onions, peppers, and zucchini, all put into one awesome omelette. It was a pretty solid way of disposing of leftovers without compromising flavor or health.
Snack–Some ice cream. And a couple of cookies. I feel like I sweated enough just going outside today to merit a couple of extra calories.
Dinner–Brats with ketchup, mustard, and some candied jalapenos, and then baked beans. Abby’s love of hot dogs is well documented in this space, and the beef brats were a great upgrade/substitute.
Tomorrow I’m making dinner for the Toys and St. Germains, and it should be a doozy…I had lots of fun at the grocery store today picking out some good stuff.
Have a good one, and go USA!
